Are you looking to take your significant other on a sweet little trip but don’t have a bunch of time? Here is a list of the top 5 romantic trips around Brisbane that you need to check out.
#5 – Kangaroo Point Cliffs
I’ve lived in and around Brisbane my whole life and the view still knocks me for six. The uninterrupted views of the Brisbane river winding in front of the cityscape is just breathtaking and especially beautiful around sundown. If you are going to check this place out make sure it is towards the end of the day, you will not regret it.

There is usually plenty of parking along River Terrace (unless there is a big event on) so you can turn in, grab your picnic blanket and enjoy an amazing view with that special someone.
Check out Visit Brisbane to find out more about this awesome spot.
#4 – Highgate Hill Park
Take the windy back roads of Southbank and you may just find this hidden treasure. We recommend you park up on either Dornoch Terrace and Hampstead Road and walk up the hill to this brilliant spot. Be sure to check out the cute gazibo at the top and take in all the beauty the Brisbane skyline has to offer.
Great daytime or night, bring your partner and furbaby to this hidden gem that the locals don’t want you to know about.

#3 – Mt Gravatt Lookout
If you’re on the Southside this great little spot will be right up your alley! This lookout can be found in the back hills of Mt Gravatt and is quite a nice little drive.
At the top you are not only greeted with an awesome view but also a neat little cafe, which can be a nice alternative to the picnic blanket!

#2 – Southbank Parklands
It doesn’t matter where you live, Southbank Parklands are always an amazing romantic destination to take that special someone. Stretching over a large area are beautiful gardens, countless restaurants and bars, a great cinema, man made beach, and most importantly an amazing view of the Brisbane River.
My absolute favourite place to take my main squeeze is up to River Quay, were there is a natural amphitheater with plenty of space to spread out the blanket and breathe in the fresh air. Sometimes there is even live music playing on weekends which can make the trip that much more special! Parking can be a little expensive so I recommend pre-booking to avoid crazy fees.

#1 – Mt Cootha
Mt Cootha has to be Brisbane’s worst kept secret, but it’s not hard to understand why. The long winding drive to the summit is beautiful as you have a view of the city almost all the way up, and you are surrounded on either side by thriving Australian bushland. Once you find a free park up the top, its just a short walk to the platform that reveals an unmatched view of the city.
If you want to avoid the hustle and bustle at the top there are actually a few picnic spots and walks down the base of the mountain, be sure to try both one day!
